Freedove Still Believes
Since the release of her first EP "Flight of the Freedove" nearly a decade ago, Freedove has re-emerged with "The Art Of Rising," a spiritually rooted collection of sonic offerings the singer/songwriter/ producer dubs life music. When the world shut down during 2020’s global pandemic, Freedove found renewal, solace and strength in nature, meditation & music. This time of introspection led her on a journey to reexamine & repurpose her life & music. "As my spiritual practice increased, so did my vision for the music being birthed thru me at this time. My intention was for the listener to experience the elements of nature while having their consciousness raised through the healing frequencies of music. As I witnessed the world about us being governed by fear, I began to ponder how we could spiritually navigate the landmines of daily life.” She began to revisit the rich musical heritage of her hometown, exploring the various African, Native, Indigenous, and tribal rhythms spanning the roots music diaspora. She soon discovered her palette had taken on a more meaningful and broader spectrum. With its unique blend of world, 80’s pop, soul and rock genres,“The Art of Rising” is at once familiar, genre-defiant & altogether unexpected -a love letter from The Most High, reminding us of who we are, of our divinity and power; an affirmation that we are all born worthy & free. “Wallz” explores the story of self-forgiveness, a heart breaking free from the walls of pain and regret, learning to let go of holding on to the past. From gospel to funk, and soul to rock, Freedove’s style has taken quite the journey to get to where it is today; but the one constant is the message in her music, and "Music Sets The Soul In Flight."

Hello Free Spirits!
I am Ma'at Freedove, and I believe "Music Sets the Soul in Flight." A little over a decade ago, I took flight with my very first EP, "Flight of the Freedove." Since that time, I have written, recorded, and contributed to singles, collaborations, movie soundtracks and compilations globally. Now, I've reemerged with something truly special – "Evolution," a spiritually infused collection of songs I like to call "life music."
My Musical Journey
The power of music has always been my guiding light, my sanctuary, my joy and my way of bridging the human connection. Music has given me the honor and privilege of sharing my gifts and talents on recordings and worldwide stages alongside incredible artists including Duran Duran, MC Lyte, Julio Iglesias, Jr., Zhane', Phillip Kirkorov, Donell Jones, and so many more.
The Awakening
When the world (and live music) shut down in 2020, I found renewed solace and strength in the sweet embrace of nature, meditation, and of course, music. This period of introspection led me on a profound journey to reexamine and repurpose my life and music. As my spiritual practice deepened, so did my intention for the music that was being birthed through me.
The Heart
As the hearts and minds of so many across the planet were being dominated and ruled by fear, I began to ponder how those on the path could navigate those spiritual landmines. Through prayer and meditation, I delved into a higher frequency of being, the transformative power of "I AM," the force of the Most High God which empowers us to transcend appearances and conditions both individually and as a collective. I found an intrinsic longing to make music for those on the spiritual path-a calling to create music that resonated with the rhythms of nature, music that could elevate consciousness, heal and empower.
The Music
As I tuned out the narrative of the world, with fresh ears, I subsequently began tuning into and rediscovering the rich musical heritage of my hometown, New Orleans. I deep dived into the diverse African, Native, Indigenous, and tribal rhythms celebrated throughout the global roots music diaspora. As I began to blend these influences together, I found that my musical palette, once described as funk n' soul, had now evolved into a more meaningful and broader spectrum. "The Art of Rising" was born, a unique gumbo of world, 80's, pop, soul, and rock flavors, familiar yet genre-defying -and altogether unexpected.
The Message
"Evolution" is more than just music; it's a sonic love letter from The Most High, reminding us of our divinity and power. It's first single, "The Art of Rising" is a celebration of resilience, a testament to the strength of the human soul, an affirmation that we are all born worthy and free-that even in the darkest moments, we can rise above. The first line of the song “The Art of Rising” challenges the status quo and speaks to the God indwelling in each of us.
